NewsSweeny Junior High School Burglarized02-23-2005: On Saturday night, February 19, 2005, three juveniles made entry into the Sweeny Junior High School through an unlocked door. Once inside, the juveniles rummaged through desk drawers and cabinets. They also made entry into locked offices by crawling though the ceiling tiles, numerous of which were subsequently damaged. Several confiscated CD players, misc. jewelry, pocket knives, and some loose change were stolen.
The damage was estimated at less than $50.00 by school authorities, and the property stolen was valued at less than $200.00. Both CD players and the other property were later recovered by school officials.
The three juveniles were charged with Burglary of a Building, a State Jail Felony. They were each ordered to pay restitution to Sweeny ISD and were ordered to perform community service.
