NewsHomicide/Arrest on S. Orange Street02-13-2006: On Saturday morning, February 11, 2006, Brian Jeffrey Pearson, 24, was shot and killed in a trailer in the 300 block of S. Orange Street in Sweeny while at a party with friends.
Charged in the murder is 25-year-old Ricardo Ramirez of Sweeny (right). Ramirez is being held at the Brazoria County Detention Center in Angleton in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
Murder, a First Degree Felony in Texas, carries a punishment of life imprisonment or a term of 5-99 years of imprisonment at the institutional division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, a fine not to exceed $10,000, or both such fine and imprisonment. Ramirez
Witnesses told police that between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., Pearson and Ramirez were arguing at the trailer. Shortly afterwards, witnesses heard the gunfire. After some commotion at the trailer, Ramirez fled the scene in a vehicle.
Police located and arrested Ramirez without incident at approximately 8:30 a.m. several miles outside of Sweeny. A .40 caliber handgun was recovered from Ramirez.
Pearson was transported to the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
No motive has yet been determined for the shooting.
