Warrants Issued in Child Pornography Case

The Sweeny Police Department received information from a previously investigated criminal case that indicated pornographic images were stored on a computer at a residence in the 300 block of Pecan Street in Sweeny.  The pornographic images were related to, and had evidentiary value in, the previously investigated criminal case.

Based on the evidence of that criminal case, a search warrant was issued.  On March 15, 2006, officers of the Sweeny Police Department and the Brazoria County District Attorney's Office executed the search warrant at the residence.  Among other things, a desktop computer was seized.

The computer was taken to Houston and submitted to the FBI's Cyber Crime Unit for forensic examination.  The results of that examination revealed a large quantity of child pornography stored in the computer.

Based on the positive findings, four arrest warrants were issued charging Paul Dwight Perry, 63, of Sweeny, with Possession of Child Pornography.  All of the charges are classified as Third Degree Felonies.

Numerous attempts to locate and apprehend Perry have failed.  The police department is asking the public's assistance to help locate Perry.

After two years of evading law enforcement attempts to apprehend him, Paul Perry surrendered himself without incident on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Department in Angleton, Texas. Paul Dwight Perry, 65, was wanted on five felony sex offenses, namely: Indecency with a Child (by sexual contact), a Second Degree Felony and four counts of Possession of Child Pornography, each a Third Degree Felony.  Bail bonds have been set in each case and total $350,000.
